While it has its charming moments, it often falls short of delivering the holiday spirit that viewers hope for.Eddie Murphy, known for his comedic talents, isn't in his prime anymore, but he still has the potential to shine in the right role with quality writing. This film shows glimpses of that potential, managing to hit the mark at times. However, much of the movie feels drawn out, leading to moments of boredom rather than the joyful experience one would expect from a holiday movie.While the film has its highlights and could have been a contender for a beloved holiday classic, I found that it lacked lasting impact. The writing and humor just didn’t resonate with me, and by the time the next holiday season rolled around, I had completely forgotten about it.Overall, I didn't dislike the movie, and I would be open to watching it again with someone who hasn’t seen it before. However, it’s not a film I would choose to revisit on my own. Unfortunately, it doesn't possess that rewatchability factor that makes a holiday movie memorable, which is a bit disappointing. The plot is actually a really fun and fresh idea, fully embracing the Christmas spirit, which I loved. The CGI and special effects, especially with the talking ornaments, were pretty cool and added a lot to the festive vibe. But, man, the movie is way too long and stretched out. It’s not that it’s boring, but it definitely drags on, and that runtime could’ve been cut down a lot. Sadly, the laughs didn’t really land for me, which was disappointing since I was hoping for more humor. With a tighter, shorter runtime and a few more funny moments, this could’ve been a Christmas classic. As it stands, there’s a lot of potential here, but it doesn’t quite deliver.
